At St. Kateri Tekakwitha CES, we all believe that Each Belongs. Regardless of ability and/or exceptionality - we welcome all of our students to provide successful learning opportunities, improve student achievement and well-being. Our amazing Educational Assistants have organized a great day for our school community to celebrate and recognize all of our varied learners. A big thank you to Mr. Ieluzzi, Mrs. Peachey, and Mrs. Rouse for their leadership especially in the planning and organization of the day's events. These abilities and exceptionalities are often not visible and we wanted to share in one day to recognize of all our students.
On Friday February 15th - students and staff are encouraged to dress in bright colours, wear wacky hair and/or different coloured socks. Students and staff may choose one of the three suggestions or all three. Every staff and student have also already created their own snowflake, which will be hung in our mall area to symbolize how different, unique and special we each are. It is in our differences that we find strength in one another.
Also find below a poem created by our very own Mrs. Simpson!
Today my hair is pink, my shirt has polka dots, and my pants are green
I like the way I look because today at school no one will be mean
It’s EACH BELONGS
where we are all treated the same
Our differences don’t matter
because were known by our name
We’re kind, friendly and include everyone here.
So, pull up your stripped socks
and give it a cheer.
Each belongs is celebrated today
Let’s all shout out hip-hip hurray!!
